The best online work-out videos
You don't need a gym to get fit. Here's some of my favourite work-outs you can do at home.
The Killer Arms
Beauty channel Into the Gloss offers some of my favourite fitness videos from the best studios in New York.
This video feels very easy as you sit cross legged facing the elegant Karen Lord of The Karen Lord Pilates Movement Karen guides you with gentle tones which almost diffuse the pain as your arm really start to hurt at the 5 minute mark. Lord recommends three times a week to really notice a difference. The exercises work the arms 360°, designed to shape and tone. Keep your back straight to feel the effects on your abs.
One of the only videos you actually need equipment, two moderate weights. I like these ones from John Lewis.
The Sweaty One
Us ladies know the legs, bums and tums are often the tricky areas. The Lean Machines have got it sorted with their quick 10 minute sessions.
You will actually sweat with this one – if you do it right. Exercises are short and sharp, which keeps you engaged. Its only 10 minutes so give it your best shot.
The Zen One
Yoga with Adriene makes it easy to get into yoga. The thought of starting a new yoga class can be quite intimating. Even though nobody will be looking at you – they’ll be too busy connecting with themselves – the fear of getting twisted keep you from signing up.
Beauty and lifestyle blogger Vivanna Does Make-up cites Adriene for finally transforming her into a yogi.
She’ll do it for you too if you ease your way in. There’s a reason why people love yoga. Its good for all of you. Adrienne sees yoga as the tool to integrate the mind, body and the heart. Lock your head into the right mind set with her daily videos.
The 30 day challenge is 30 minutes of yoga a day for 30 days – it sounds a lot but once you start its hard to go through the day without it. August 1st is around the corner….ready, set, yo!
The Eating One
What you put in the body goes hand in hand with results. They say its about 30% exercise, 70% food.
Net-a-porter’s lifestyle video offers great advice on the whole picture. Model turned nutritionist Rosemary Ferguson partners up with Olympic trainer Tim Weeks for The Fit Element to get your head around sustaining your body’s new routine.
The Weird One
Fitness Artist, Nicole Winhoffer (great name) makes you bend in ways that don’t feel totally legitimate. A kind of Kristen Wig dance – its not for the bashful. But actually, moving in ways you don’t usually do is good – toning the complacent muscles the treadmill ignores.
Just go with it and shut the blinds.
The Ballet One
Mary Helen Bowers from Ballet Beautiful has been bringing ballet back into the lives of women who once donned pink tutus in their childhood and converting those who didn’t.
Bowers was the personal trainer responsible for getting Natalie Portman in shape for her lead role in Darren Arononfsky’s Black Swan.
Ballet makes you feel beautiful. So raise those swan arms up to the ceiling…Who cares if your plié doesn’t graceful, there’s no one here to see anyway.
Follow BALLET BEAUTIFUL on Instagram for some inspirational shots of how the discipline can transform the body.
The One that Hurts
Anna Kaiser makes you do something with your thighs that feels incredible unpleasant. But the burn burns in such a burning way that you know is good for you.
Anna is the trains little dynamos like Kelly Ripa, SJP, and Shakira (Those hips don’t lie).
Anna is badass. See if you can get through the whole thing. I’ve managed to once.
The Happy One
If you are struggling to get motivated, Cassey Ho is ya gurl. She is so happy, like the happiest person ever, even when she’s squatting.
She’s all about working hard in short bursts for targeted results. Don’t disappoint such a happy bunny and give her 20.
The Babes One
If you are braving a bikini soon The Tone It Up girls have got you covered. They want you to look like a hot mermaid, which is fine even if its only Cornwall you’ll be heading too.
They hail from the land of fitness – L.A, so they’re constantly bikini ready. Poor gals.
